The Department’s Sales Section will resume its normal opening hours from Friday 4th January, 2019. The Administrative Offices of the Department will be open from Monday to Friday, 8:30am—5:00pm. On the half-days stated, the Administrative Offices will be open, 8:30—12:30pm. Emergency large animal vet calls can be made to 916-2218 during the hours that the office is closed. Promote the safe use, handling and storage of pesticides and of the regulation of importation and distribution of these products.
Provide a service to the community to:
Provide training and educational interventions; marketing, agri-business, promotional, public relations and logistical services to support the development of the Agricultural Sector and the enhancement of National Food and Nutrition Security. This includes the production and publication of:
Provide support to commercial farmers and backyard gardeners in the production of crops and proper care and maintenance of plants. This includes provision of:
Provide Animal Husbandry services to optimize the productivity of livestock at the farm level, through:
Provide a facility and service for the slaughter and dressing for human consumption in compliance with the regulations and departmental standards. Deliver carcasses to and onbehalf of clients.
Provide ambulatory medical and surgical service to farm animals including after-hours emergencies. Regulate the importation and exportation of animals and animal products to protect the health of animal and human populations from the entry and movement of animal pests and animal and zoonotic diseases.
