  • Animal, Plant & Meat Requirements

    An Import Permit must be obtained from the Cayman Islands Department of Agriculture prior to importing any live animal, bird, aquarium fish, plant or plant product into the Cayman Islands. The species must also be inspected and accompanied by an original copy of an inspection certificate, which must be issued by the Agricultural Authority of the country of origin.   • Christmas Meat Inspections

    During the festive season in the Cayman Islands, local residents enjoy many traditional Christmas dishes prepared using fresh local meat. Based on demand, there is an increase in the number of animals slaughtered by local butchers. Officials from the department of Environmental Health (DEH) are reminding the public that there is a set procedure in place to ensure delivery of safe meats to consumers.
