Request for Comments and Notice of Open House Sessions
The Cayman Islands Department of Environment (DoE) is providing Notice to the Public regarding the availability of the Draft Environmental Statement (ES) for the proposed Grand Cayman Waste Management Facility (WMF). Dart Realty (Cayman) Ltd (the “Proponent”) indicates that the proposed WMF is designed to meet accepted international practices and standards and is master planned for Grand Cayman’s current and future waste needs. This notice invites the public to review and comment on the Draft ES, prepared by Cardno ENTRIX, and provides notice of two public sessions.
Cardno ENTRIX has developed the Draft ES by utilizing the approved Terms of Reference to guide the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The Draft ES is the written report of the EIA process and provides a technical based evaluation of potential environmental impacts that may be expected as a result of the proposed WMF construction and operation. CE provided the Draft ES chapters to the Environmental Advisory Board (EAB) for their review and comment, and comments have now been received.
Your comments will be considered in the finalization of the ES document. The Draft ES public comment period will be open for 21 days. The Draft ES for the WMF is available at the bottom of this page.
