Coastal Works Licences

Construction of docks, seawalls, launching ramps, slipways, or groynes; filling or dredging; and any other activity impacting the seabed require coastal works licenses.

Authorisation is required to use sovereign submerged or Crown lands, which are in, on or over waters at or seaward of the Mean High Water Mark or in, on or over Crown-owned canals.

The following documents provide the information and the forms needed to apply for a coastal works licence. Information is also provided on rebuilding previously authorized coastal structures damaged by storms.
