Invites applications for the following post: Deputy Chief Officer (Adult Education, Youth, Sports and Public Libraries)

The post-holder will support the Chief Officer to deliver the mandate for the Ministry by serving as the Ministry’s principal manager, advisor and coordinator of policy and strategic planning for the Adult Education, Youth & Sports sectors. The post holder will focus on enhancing the technical capacity within the Ministry, to fulfil its remit for policy and planning and to refocus and strengthen the role of the Departments and Units that form the operational arm of the Ministry, responsible for policy implementation.

Required qualifications, experience and skills include the following:

  • A Masters Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or other relevant area would be highly desirable. However the post holder should be educated to at least a first degree level or equivalent.
  • Must possess at least 7 years of broad senior-level experience, with administrative functions, management and financial systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of the legislative process.
  • Have extensive knowledge of current policy issues in one of the fields of expertise required for the role.
  • Possess previous experience working with senior leaders and stakeholders to identify and promote policies, and to help define priorities and bring about solutions to compelling organisational challenges.
