The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism invites applications for the following post:

Marketing Officer (Events)

Reporting to the Events Marketing Supervisor, this post will assist in the co-ordination of special marketing and communications events projects as they relate to the Department of Tourismís overall goals and objectives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide organizational and administrative support to the Events Marketing Supervisor and Manager, National Promotions & Events
  • Assist with the planning and execution of on-island events hosted by the Department, as well as overseas promotional events
  • Work with the Department to enhance the profile of the destination in local and overseas media
  • Assist with Collateral Requests in processing requests forms and fulfillment
  • Assist with the Inventory control of collateral items for use by media, tourism partners and overseas offices under the supervision of the Events Marketing Supervisor
  • Working outside of regular office hours will be required with execution of events

Applicants should possess the following education, experience, attributes and skills:

  • Minimum of an Associateís Degree in Marketing, Tourism or a related discipline
  • At least 2 years experience in the tourism industry
  • A minimum of 2 years in the planning of local or corporate events
  • Good presentation and communications skills
  • Ability to adapt to changes within a dynamic industry
  • Ability to multitask
  • Good organization and administrative skills, with a strong base of urgency and prioritization to facilitate several projects simultaneously with ease
  • Ability to work well within team atmosphere
  • Articulate with excellent command of written English
  • Creative and innovative problem solver
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be familiar with all aspects of the tourism product, as well as the local culture and nuances and be able to effectively communicate to the travel trade and visitors when required.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, excel, power point and presentation software programmes
  • Display initiative
  • Ability to deliver quality results with demanding deadlines
