The Portfolio of the Civil Service is currently seeking a talented, service-oriented

Personal Assistant to His Excellency the Governor

The Personal Assistant offers administrative and management support to the Governorís Office and Government House, with responsibility for managing a team of 4 persons and delivery of various administrative functions. The post holder arranges and coordinates civil service matters within the Governorís Office and the external engagement schedule including local events and travel.

The requirements:

The post holder must hold a Secretarial Certificate or Associates Degree with at least 8 years of high level administrative experience supporting a senior executive. Alternatively, length and quality of experience as demonstrated by achievement may compensate for lack of formal qualifications.

The post holder must have sound office management experience and be well versed in proper protocol and procedures. Additionally he/she must be able to handle difficult and sensitive situations using sound, independent judgment within general policy and legal guidelines.

The post holder must be able to:

  • prioritise and ensure accuracy and conformity of procedures;
  • deal with enquiries from members of the public in a professional and sensitive manner;
  • supervise and evaluate staff, directly and through multiple levels of supervision;
  • manage multiple tasks, often with competing priorities;
  • be highly confidential, politically neutral, display mature judgement and possess a high degree of professional integrity;
  • have excellent interpersonal, liaison and communication skills and possess the ability to work effectively and reliably under pressure and within tight deadlines;
  • work on his/her own initiative, independently, and as part of a team; and
  • be flexible and highly dependable.
