The Department of Counselling Services is seeking to fill the following vacancy:

Programme Coordinator, Caribbean Haven Residential Centre (CHRC)

offers commensurate with education and years of experience

The Programme Coordinator (CHRC) coordinates the services of gender-specific programmes that provide high quality, evidence based, residential based treatment services in the Cayman Islands for persons who suffer from a substance abuse disorder or are dually diagnosed with a mental health issue, with a concentration of referrals coming through the courts and the prison population.

Principal Accountabilities include:

  • Coordinating referrals into and from specific programmes, track statistical information, and manage administrative flow of documents including reports on clients and programme services.
  • Assisting with the recruitment and orientation of the Auxiliary staff, providing bi-weekly supervision and scheduling their daily activities to ensure clients’ needs are met and the facility is well-maintained.
  • Coordinating the monthly staff schedules, developing extra-therapeutic components of the treatment programmes (e.g. guest speakers, approved outings) and organising activities of the residents (including doctor’s appointments, court hearings etc).
  • Developing and maintaining adequate systems of inventory control and overseeing the purchase of supplies required for the residential treatment centre.
  • Conducting individual, process and psychoeducational group therapy sessions to support clients achieving their individual treatment goals.
  • Conducting intakes, screenings and comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments on clients who present for services to determine appropriateness for treatment and to identify appropriate level of care.
  • In conjunction with Clinical Supervisor, developing programme content of gender-specific programmes to ensure treatment services match the needs of clients admitted to the specific programmes.
  • Acting in the Absence of the Clinical Supervisor, CHRC.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Applicants should possess a Master’s Degree in a Social Science, and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working therapeutically with clients in a residential treatment centre OR Bachelor’s degree with experience working therapeutically with clients in a residential treatment centre.
  • Individual and group therapy skills.
  • Experience in programme development and coordination are required.
  • Experience working with mandated clients and cross cultural experience would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills are required including the ability to develop statistical and narrative reports.
  • Strong organisational skills are required for this position.
  • Proficiency in computer applications software including Windows & Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point).
  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and experience working with dually diagnosed clients is considered an asset.
