The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism

invites applications for the following post:

Research Officer

Reporting to the Research Analyst, this post assists with the departmentís efforts by effectively generating analyses and compiling information to support the delivery of high-quality integrated marketing programs and services to its internal and external clients worldwide, to build brand awareness, and promote the destination and drive visitor arrivals.

Main Responsibilities include:

  • Assist and provide input in conducting research that is supportive of the market research unitís objectives
  • Support in the collection and compilation of research and field data, with a focus in third party led research
  • Compile data for reports such as forecasting, visitor exit survey reports, monthly tourism air and cruise arrivals, annual and by-annual reports, Ministry output reports and other secondary research, to gauge the performance of the tourism sector
  • Compile information within the market research unit in format prescribed in response to requests for data from government departments/agencies, the private sector, and other stakeholders
  • Assist with conducting conversion studies and perform analysis to determine return on Cayman Islands Department of Tourism investments
  • Coordinate, as assigned, any other research or analysis that supports the department objectives

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Marketing, Market Research, Statistics, Mathematics or Economics and a minimum of two years in market research and statistics
  • Or, pursuing a degree in one of the above listed fields along with significant relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Software (i.e. SAS, SPSS)
  • Working knowledge of consumer research and survey methodologies
  • Working knowledge of report writing / developing presentations
  • Working knowledge of statistics / analysis, marketing and research design
  • Project management skills and experience
  • Strong analytical and organization skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and conducting research / evaluation of projects
  • Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in manipulating large data sets
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
