International Cooperation Officer I (Compliance)

The Ministry of Financial Services and Home Affairs is recruiting a highly analytical and organised individual to join the Department for International Tax Cooperation (DITC). As a member of the DITC team, you will assist in the implementation and oversight of effective compliance and enforcement measures to ensure that financial institutions, reporting entities, relevant entities and information holders meet their statutory obligations and adhere to best practices.

The Department for International Tax Cooperation is responsible for the effective implementation of the Cayman Islands international obligations in tax matters and for engagement with relevant international initiatives and bodies.

AS INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION OFFICER (COMPLIANCE) YOU WILL:

  • Critically examine requests received in order to ensure the request conforms to the requirements of relevant agreements.
  • Effectively handle all aspects of exchange of information request received from other jurisdictions under international agreements, including vetting, analysing, preparing for exercise of statutory powers and examination of information.
  • Assist the Head of Compliance with management of the technical operation of compliance systems.
  • Implement and oversee monitoring and compliance by financial institutions and account holders with reporting requirements and best practices.
  • Ensure the coordination and delivery of efficient, accurate and timely responses to email and telephone queries relating to compliance with various forms of EOI.

DO YOU HAVE?

  • A Bachelorís Degree in Business Administration or other relevant area with a minimum of 3 to 4 years relevant work experience in a technical environment, or Associates Degree (or Diploma) in Business Administration or other relevant area with 5 to 7 years relevant work experience in a technical environment.
  • Proven ability to assimilate and interpret complex documentation accurately in a timely manner.
  • Experience conducting compliance audits, inquires or reviews.
  • Paralegal experience with understanding legal concepts and documents is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the Cayman Islands international tax cooperation framework relevant to the post and its application.
  • Proven ability to work in a highly sensitive and confidential environment and to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
