Applications are invited for the post of:

Senior Policy Advisor – Global Communications

To provide strategic policy advice relating to Global Communications to support new and existing National Strategies and legislative proposals, in order to guide, promote, and advance the agenda for the Ministry of International Trade, Investment, Aviation, and Maritime Affairs. To achieve the Ministry’s policy development responsibilities, strategic analysis, and all project-related work under its remit, including but not limited to the specialist conceptualization, development, negotiation, communication, implementation of the Ministry’s Global Communication policies and procedures.

Education and/or Experience /Qualifications :

The post holder must possess:

  • A Master’s degree in International Affairs, Political Science, Business Administration, Communications or similar.
  • Knowledge of modern principles, procedures and practices of policy drafting in public administration,
  • Have a minimum of 8 – 10 years’ experience developing and designing policies and/or strategies at an executive level, 5 years of experience should include the provision of complex policy research, interpretation, drafting, recommendation, development, strategy;
  • Demonstrated past success in developing and implementing public affairs strategies to a global audience.

The post holder will also be required to demonstrate, in part:

  • A highly strategic approach to work, comfortable to provide professional creative recommendations in a variety of organizational contexts;
  • An ability to develop ideas, and negotiate and be persuasive in selling such ideas/best practice policy approaches to all levels;
  • An ability to plan both in the short and long term;
  • Must be receptive to ideas, and demonstrate an ability to embrace other opinions/views/concerns (acknowledge and recognize the skills of others);
  • An ability to make difficult (and sometimes unpopular) judgement calls;
  • A highly analytical approach to work, focusing on accuracy and effective process management in the achievement of a high standards of work;
  • Strengths in the areas of leadership, people management, delegation, motivation, team working, computer usage, data accuracy and manipulation and the organization, planning and prioritizing of work;
  • Must be adaptable to new approaches and be able to recommend improvements where appropriate;
  • Must be comfortable and effective when liaising with a variety of staff at all levels, demonstrating clarity of communication and an effective provision of direction/advice;
