Deputy Chief Officer (Health & Admin)

The Ministry of Health has an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic and inspiring individual to fill the post of Deputy Chief Officer (Health & Admin). The Deputy Chief Officer assists the Chief Officer with the overall management of the Ministry and has specific management responsibility for Health and Environmental Health. The post holder will also provide oversight to other areas of the Ministry as directed by the Chief Officer on occasion.

Principle accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing coordinated high-level policy advice and development services in the subject areas of Health
  • Assisting the Chief Officer in providing a range of high level administrative support services to the Minister
  • Research, analyse and prepare memoranda, position papers, reports, speeches, Cabinet submissions and answers to Parliamentary Questions
  • Contributing to the management of the Ministry’s fiscal responsibilities

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

The successful candidate must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent. In addition, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or other relevant area would be highly desirable.
  • Minimum of seven years’ broad senior–level experience with administrative functions, management and financial systems
  • Extensive knowledge of current policy issues in at least one of the fields of expertise required for the role
  • Experience working with senior leaders and stakeholders to identify and promote
  • Detailed knowledge of the legislative process
  • Excellent research and analytical, strategic planning and project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, & negotiation skills, and strong relationship management skills
