We invite applicants for the following vacancy at Radio Cayman:

Announcer I/Traffic Assistant

Main Duties

The successful applicant will be required to entertain and inform Radio Caymanís listeners and to maintain on air continuity by doing the following:

  • Attract listeners through compelling conversations.
  • Make presentations in an entertaining and creative way
  • Make sure that all information is well researched and factual before airing.
  • Assist with the processing of traffic orders from the Sales Section.
  • Review the status of client's advertising schedules.
  • Input data for commercials and programmes into the Traffic software.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Qualifications: An Associateís degree in a related field, such as Broadcasting or Communications and minimum of a year experience OR a satisfactory high school education with a minimum of 5 years experience in on air presentation and programme production.

Experience & Skills: Must have strong writing skills, good diction and grammar along with excellent pronunciation skills. Strong computer skills are essential. The Postholder should have a basic knowledge of the tasks performed by the other sub-sections of the department, especially sales, billing and news.

The post holder must have the ability to attract listeners through compelling conversation and develop programmes that are designed to inform, entertain and enlighten listeners.

Must have a good knowledge of all music genres and awareness of current affairs, Cayman Islands culture and heritage. Good mental and manual dexterity and the ability to operate various types of studio equipment.

The post holder must be able to work on their own initiative.
