GIS Spotlight on Addiction Recovery
(Have you missed this week's GIS Spotlight? Use the links to watch the segments on our YouTube channel!)
This week GIS Spotlight walks the hard road to recovery with a former alcoholic, we clean up on the Department of Environmental Health (DEH)'s Garbage Crackdown, and give you a preview of celebrations planned for Sunshine Week.
September is the Department of Counselling Services' Recovery Month and the focus is on fighting addiction.
Listen to our exclusive interview with a recovering alcoholic who speaks frankly about his addiction and receiving help. Also, we tell you more about the services offered by this department, all of which are free to the public.
Next, we talk to the DEH about the latest drive to keep Cayman clean. Find out why the Garbage Crackdown sticker programme was initiated and how you can steer clear of earning the dreaded label. Also, you can pick up tips from those in the know on how to properly put out your garbage.
Then, we take you inside a Freedom of Information (FOI) training session to see how government's information managers are gearing up for January 2009 when the FOI Law comes into effect.
We also talk to FOI staff on their plans for Sunshine Week. Discover how you can get involved in this celebration of open government, plus we'll tell you where to get your own FOI User Guide.
Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government's services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.
The weekly programme airs on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. on Cayman27, and again on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. on Island24. Comments and suggestions about the programme are always welcome. Viewers can provide feedback by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
