GIS Spotlight Offers More on Home Ownership

Roadsign near East End Cottage

This week on GIS Spotlight we pay another visit to the National Housing Development Trust (NHDT) to explore how they are building quality communities, one affordable home at a time.

Then, celebrating Beautification Month, we find out how the Recreation, Parks and Cemeteries Unit makes a daily difference, plus we tune in for another Senior Salute.

Feeling locked out of the housing market? Find out how the NHDT can give you a key to unlock the door to an affordable home.

In the second segment of our two-part NHDT series, we feature the affordable housing programme which assists low-income but land-owning residents to build a place they can call home. Find out if you qualify and how to apply. Then join us as we do an on-site inspection of the new breed of affordable homes.

Next, take to the streets and beaches with the Recreation, Parks and Cemeteries Unit. See how this small division makes a constant difference while working to beautify our surroundings.

Then, as we reach the end of Senior Month (October) it's time for our final Senior Salute. Join us for a visit to friendly East End Cottage. We meet staff and residents as we explore the topic of elderly care -- one of the five UN International Day of Older Persons principles.

Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government's services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.

The weekly programme airs on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. on Cayman27, and again on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. on Island24. Comments and suggestions about the programme are always welcome. Viewers can provide feedback by e-mailing heather.hopson@gov.ky.
