GIS Spotlight on Home Ownership
Tune into GIS Spotlight this week and find out how the National Housing Development Trust (NHDT) is building quality communities, one affordable home at a time.
We also explain the labour force survey process and salute another extraordinary senior citizen, before turning the page to Bodden Town Primary School's Reading Initiative.
First, find out everything you need to know about applying, qualifying and moving into the home of your dreams. GIS Spotlight talks to NHDT Director Maxine Gibson about the philosophy that steers the ownership programme. Also, hear from a young couple who now own their own home and how that has changed their lives.
Next, we talk to the Economics and Statistics Office Director Maria Zingapan about the current labour force survey. She explains the purpose of this annual analysis of household statistics.
Then we salute Ms Josie Solomon. In charge of the bustling Bodden Town Senior Centre, she tells us why it's important to stay active beyond retirement.
Finally, we visit Bodden Town Primary School to hear more about their newly launched reading initiative - the Rookie Reading League.
We talk to Literary Coordinator Angela James about hitting a home run with this baseball themed programme. Plus we find out how reading will transport the students all the way to the Major League, while teaching them to love books.
Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government's services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.
The weekly programme airs on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. on Cayman27, and again on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. on Island24. Comments and suggestions about the programme are always welcome. Viewers can provide feedback by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
