Jailhouse Café To Let

Jailhouse Café

On behalf of the Cayman Islands National Museum the Lands & Survey Department's Valuation Office is pleased to announce that it is seeking a tenant to lease and run the recently renovated Jail House Café.

As part of the National Museum building, the café is a familiar landmark for locals and visitors alike. It takes its name from its location as it stands on the site of part of the old jail which in the past stood behind the old Court House.

The café has traditionally served up breakfast, snacks, meals and refreshments to local and overseas customers, with the roofed cabana providing a relaxing and cool spot in which to sit back and watch the world go by.

So...can you cook? Are you experienced in running a small business? The Cayman Islands National Museum is looking for someone who is prepared to lease the Jail House Café premises to showcase Caymanian cooking and offer a full range of tasty home cooked-style traditional food and drink. The tenant will also be required to cater to all the museum's in-house events.

Rental offers are invited from local companies and individuals prepared to sign a five-year commercial lease to fit-out and operate the famous Jail House Café.

Application forms and enquiries should be addressed to the Valuation Office at the Lands & Survey Department, BritCay House, Eastern Avenue, George Town. Telephone: 244 3420.

The Cayman Islands National Museum opened in 1990 in the Old Courts Building overlooking Hog Sty Bay, and is one of Cayman's few remaining 19th century structures.

Scheduled to reopen to the public next month, the meticulously restored building will exhibit many of the museum's 4,000-strong collection of historic memorabilia.
