New Grand Court Session
Ceremonies implementing the 2009 annual session of the Cayman Islands Grand Court will take place tomorrow (Wednesday 7 January).
Following a general salute, Chief Justice the Hon. Anthony Smellie, QC, will inspect a police guard of honour at 10 a.m. He will be accompanied by Clerk of Courts Valdis Foldats and Police Commissioner James Smith.
Activities inside the Grand Court will commence with prayer. At the Chief Justice's invitation, Attorney General, the Hon. Mr. Samuel Bulgin, will then move the opening of the Grand Court. Seconding the motion will be Caymanian Bar Association President James Bergstrom and CI Law Society President Charles Jennings.
The Chief Justice will then accede to the motion and address the bar.
The court's regular business starts at 2.30 pm.
