Immigration Officer Arrested

An immigration officer was arrested and charged on Wednesday, 4 February for offences under the Immigration Law, department officials report.

The officer was arrested by Immigration Enforcement at the department's headquarters on Elgin Avenue.

The officer was charged with employing a person without a work permit, and obstructing an immigration officer in the execution of his duties.

The offending officer is out on bail, and is scheduled to appear in court.
