Constitution, Immigration, Radio Cayman
This week's GIS Spotlight takes you to the heart of constitution matters; highlights a new immigration programme aimed at helping to promote Caymanians in the work force, and then gets up close and personal at Radio Cayman.
The constitution debate has ended and the Constitutional Review Secretariat (CRS) has embarked on a drive to educate the public on the recently negotiated provisions of the Draft 2009 Cayman Islands Constitution.
GIS Spotlight host Heather Hopson sits down with CRS Head Suzanne Bothwell and other Secretariat representatives as they take viewers through the secretariat's public education and outreach campaign.
Specifically, the programme takes a look at the CRS website and the explanatory guide which straightforwardly explains the Constitution so that residents can more readily understand it.
Then we turn to the Accreditation System for Employers which requires companies to pre-qualify before they can apply for new and renewal permits. Join us as GIS Spotlight speaks to Chief Immigration Officer Franz Manderson and private sector representatives who partnered with the department to develop the new system.
Their agenda entails rewarding companies for good business practices, and promoting Caymanians in the workforce while preventing the abuse of migrant workers. So seize your chance to learn about the points system, the requirements, and the accreditation process.
Finally, it's off to Radio Cayman to glimpse the station's newly renovated offices and sneak a behind-the-scenes peek at its operations.
Tune in to meet persons behind familiar radio voices and see those who work in the background to keep Cayman entertained and informed.
Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government's services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.
This week the programme airs on Tuesday at 6:30 pm on Cayman27, and again on Thursdays at 7:30 pm on Island24. All the stories seen in this week's edition can also be found on YouTube at the following link: www.youtube.com/user/CIGovtInfoServices.
