GIS Spotlight on FOI Reaches Out
This week on GIS Spotlight, see how Cayman is sharing its freedom of information (FOI) expertise with a contingent from Bermuda; learn about Red Cross innovative storm plans, and walk the beach with Department of Environment officials this turtle nesting season.
As a regional leader in the successful implementation of FOI legislation, Cayman played host this week to a Bermudan contingent as that island nation prepares to put its own regime into practice.
Follow the visitors around as they learn about Cayman's FOI experience and hear first hand about our achievements and challenges in this field.
Next, we visit the Red Cross to find out how they are preparing Cayman's districts to weather storms. We tell you about the organisation's community disaster containers and their programmes designed to prepare the 'average Joe' to become a hero in a crisis.
Finally, kick off your shoes and join us on the beach as we explore the Department of Environment's turtle monitoring programme.
Find out where to walk and what to look for. Plus, we give you a whole range of interesting facts about nesting turtles. We also talk to some volunteers on why finding and protecting turtle nests is important to them.
Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government's services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.
The weekly programme airs on Mondays at 6:30 pm on Cayman27, and again on Thursdays at 7:30 pm on Island24. All the stories seen in this week's edition can also be found on YouTube.
Comments and suggestions about the programme are always welcome. Viewers can provide feedback by e-mailing Producer/Host Heather Hopson.
