Cayman Kai Home Burns

Two unoccupied condos were damaged during an early-morning fire at Island House in Cayman Kai, Rum Point.

Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS) officials received the report from 911 at 11:54 p.m. Wednesday, 16 July.

Two fire vehicles, dispatched from the Frank Sound Fire Station, arrived at the scene by 12:07 a.m. A third truck was dispatched from Central Fire Station in George Town.

On arrival, fire officers found unit 10 engulfed. The fire appeared extinguished by 1:08 a.m. But three hours later, while standing-by at the scene, the fire reignited in the unit's roof.

The fire extensively damaged unit 10, while damage to neighbouring unit 11 was minor. CIFS officials are investigating the cause.
