CIBC Bank and Trust Company (Cayman) Limited staff have spearheaded a drive which raised CI$1600.00 to purchase students' uniforms in time for the new school year.

The donation was handed over to Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Director Deanna Look Loy.

Staff member Cordella Chollette who led the effort said that CIBC staffers heard about an appeal for assistance and agreed to use funds raised from their monthly dress-down day to help children with back-to-school.

"Each month we stage a dress down for charity, for which we each contribute $10. We decided to use the $800 collected for August to help the children.

"The management agreed to match those funds, which is how we managed to present the CI$1600 total for the cause," Ms. Chollette said.

Mrs. Look Loy thanked the staff for taking the initiative to help the wider community at a time when the need is so great.

"Government resources alone cannot support those who require help, so partnering with organisations and private citizens is a critical element in finding solutions," she said.
