Service organisations continue to improve back-to-school conditions for students, say Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) officials.

The latest donation is from the Lions Club of Grand Cayman which provided $888 to purchase school uniforms for deserving children.

Mr. Ian Callow, third vice-president for the Lions Club, explained that the funds will purchase uniforms for 12 DCFS clients.

"As part of our youth outreach we are pleased to assist, especially in these tough economic times," he said.

Thanking the club for the donation, DCFS Director Deanna Look Loy said that department staffers are always happy to partner with private sector groups. "Uniforms can be so important," she said, "especially when it comes to building self-esteem."
