Governor on Auditor General Reports
The Governor welcomes the work that is being done under the Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, Mr. Ezzard Miller, to improve the way that Auditor General reports are handled by the committee. He looks forward to receiving the PAC's proposals for changes to the applicable Standing Orders of the Legislative Assembly.
Auditor General reports and the PAC provide important checks and balances, and the prompt and unfettered publication of their reports is therefore fundamental to the good governance of the Cayman Islands. Under the Constitution, changes to the Standing Orders of the LA require the approval of the Governor, who has a duty to encourage good governance.
The Governor's views on this subject are set out in more detail in his blog.
