GIS Spotlight Shines Green

DOE captures rain water to feed indoor plants which work with air conditioning to improve office air quality.

This week GIS Spotlight makes you more environmentally savvy in the office. In this repeat programme, you will also meet visiting super skateboarder Shaun White and have some of your protocol queries answered.

First stop, you will see the Department of Environment (DoE) lead by example on ways to run a green office or business. Learn how a few simple but consistent practices can make a positive difference to our planet.

This is a great opportunity to absorb tips about better power and water use, transportation and garbage disposal, by visiting www.doe.ky/reducing-office-footprint-1/.

Then it is off to the Black Pearl Skate Park to 'experience' how effortlessly famed skateboarder Shaun White achieves rushing wind and awesome speeds even during lessons to kids and government officials.

GIS Spotlight gives you an inside view of the Department of Tourism's Skate Cayman summer camp that successfully sponsored Shaun's visit.

Finally, if you have wondered about the proper way to fly the flag or the correct order in which to sing the national anthem and national song, GIS Spotlight has answers for you. Visit the Protocol Office to also learn what it takes to host visiting dignitaries and diplomats, or national events.

Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government's services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.

The weekly programme airs on Mondays at 6:30 pm on Cayman27, and again on Thursdays at 7:30 pm on Island24. All the stories seen in this week's edition can also be found on YouTube.

Comments and suggestions about the programme are always welcome. Viewers can provide feedback by e-mailing Producer/Host Heather Hopson.
