Commencement Day

Cayman Islands first Premier, the Hon. McKeeva Bush, OBE, JP, took office this morning (Friday, 6 November), the day the country ushered in its new Constitution.

Premier Bush took the oath of office and allegiance before His Excellency the Governor Mr. Stuart Jack, CVO. A huge crowd witnessed the historical event which took place in front of the Legislative Assembly Building.

Deputy Premier the Hon. Juliana O'Connor-Connolly, JP, arrives to take the oath of office. Also in photo is son Kamaal Connolly.

Also sworn in were Deputy Premier the Hon. Juliana O'Connor-Connolly, JP and Deputy Governor the Hon. Donovan Ebanks, MBE.

His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Stuart Jack, CVO, addresses the audience during the Commencement Day ceremony.
