Bowling Over Cricket!
Raising the bar for the sport, a significant amount of cricket gear and equipment was recently received by the Cayman Islands Cricket Association.
Donated by the Flowers Group, the items were presented to association officials through the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
Attending the presentation at the DCFS Eastern Avenue office were Community Affairs Minister the Hon. Mike Adam, MBE; DCFS Director Deanna Look Loy; DCFS Disaster Coordinator Lynda Mitchell; Flowers Group Director Dara Flowers-Burke and representative Daniel Burke.
Also on hand to accept the gift of bats, helmets, gloves, stumps and pins were Cayman Islands Cricket Association President Courtney Myles and National Cricket Coach Theodore Cuffy.
Ms. Flowers said that in keeping with its overall involvement in the development of sports in Cayman, her group was pleased to support the cricketers.
Thanking both the Flowers Group and the DCFS facilitators, Mr. Myles said that the items will be distributed to national league teams according to need. He added, "This much-needed contribution will definitely aid the development of local cricket."
In addition, 75 pairs of shoes were donated by Flowers to DCFS clients and are to be distributed to the needy in all districts. Mrs. Look Loy also thanked the Flowers Group for their meaningful gift.
