HWM in Full Swing

The Family Resource Centre (FRC) will be hosting Honouring Women through the Arts on Friday, 19 March from 6-8p.m. at the Brickhouse Restaurant in Grand Harbour.

Featuring artists of all types, singers, dancers, musicians and poets, the event will also include a silent auction. Artists who contribute work will have their pieces displayed.

Family Resource Centre Programme Facilitator Miriam Foster explained that all proceeds benefit community family support programmes. "So if you are interested in performing or contributing an art piece to our auction, please contact FRC," she said.

Brickhouse attendees will also receive 15% discount cards for use on Friday or on a future visit if they sign up to take part in the Guinness World Record: Longest Yoga Chain. Featuring women in a warrior pose, that event is scheduled for Saturday, 20 March at the SMB Public Beach SMB, starting at 9:00 a.m.

"We encourage all girls and women to come along and make history. Don't be intimidated by the idea of yoga; it is a simple pose, with arms and legs stretched to either side. Participants are urged to wear white," Mrs. Foster said.

"This year's theme is Women Making History!

Ms. Foster also provided details of associated events, such as the Books and Books poetry evening on Wednesday 17, again under the theme, Women Making History!

That event will allow women to hear guest speaker Merta Day of the Department of Sports and they will also be able to mingle and discuss important issues affecting women locally.

The Family Resource Centre appreciates the generosity of all community sponsors and further information may be obtained from Miriam Foster at 949-0006/525-0690 or email miriam.foster@gov.ky.
