The Population and Housing Census of the Cayman Islands is scheduled to start on October 10, 2010.
As this is fast approaching, the Economics and Statistics Office, in cooperation with the multi-sectoral Census Advisory Committee, its sub-committees and the office of the Sister Islands' District Commissioner, is organizing the official launching of the Census in Cayman Brac and Grand Cayman.
Both events will mark the start of an education and publicity campaign on the importance of the Census in planning a better future for Cayman, and in getting everyone to be counted to make it a successful national activity.
To underscore the importance of the Census 2010, the launching will feature Census messages from the highest level of government officials, namely His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Duncan Taylor, CBE and the Hon. Premier, Mr. W. McKeeva Bush, OBE, JP in Grand Cayman; and the Hon. Deputy Premier, Mrs. Juliana O'Connor-Connolly, JP, MLA Moses Kirkconnell, JP and District Commissioner Mr. Ernie Scott, JP in Cayman Brac, and the Financial Secretary Mr. Kenneth Jefferson, JP.
The launching will also introduce Census spokespersons from various sectors: National Hero Mrs. Sybil McLaughlin, Pastor Davelee Tibbetts, 2010 YCLA winner Mr. Collin Anglin, Miss Teen Jamesette Anglin and Mrs. Chevala Burke.
A video presentation introducing the Census, its various processes, participants, benefits and use in broad terms will also be presented.
The Master of Ceremonies of the Cayman Brac event will be Deputy Commissioner Mr. Mark Tibbetts. His counterpart for the Grand Cayman event will be Radio Cayman talk show host, Mr. Sterling Dwayne Ebanks.
The launching is scheduled in Cayman Brac on Thursday, April l 22, 2010 at 10:00 am at the District Administration Building Grounds. The launching in Grand Cayman is scheduled on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 10:00 at the Mary Miller Hall.
Potential Census workers will have the opportunity to sign-up at both launching. The general public is invited to attend.
