Child Month Winds Down
A whole host of events this weekend will wrap up what has thus far been a most eventful Child Month.
Speaking for the Child Month Committee, Chairperson Cassandra Parchment said one of the main events will be this Friday's (28 May) staging of Child Month Youth Fest which is being held for the first time. The event begins at the Lions Centre at 6:00 p.m.
"With its song and dance contests and battle of the band, it promises excitement for children and teens," she said. "It is designed to showcase the wealth of talent that we have among our children and will also provide entertainment for the entire family."
Admission to Youth Fest is $5.00, with children aged less than five years being admitted free. The first 300 patrons will receive a snack and a drink.
Other events over this weekend had been postponed because of the inclement weather last weekend. These include the Child Month 5K Walk-Run which begins at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday at Pedro St. James. Adults will be charged $15 to participate but there will be no charge for children.
Similarly, the George Town District Fun Day will now take place on Saturday, 29 May starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Airport Park. Likewise on Saturday, the public can join in the Nutritional Scavenger Hunt at Foster's Food Fair Airport Branch, beginning at 8:30a.m.
Then, in the wake of the weekend, the District Fun Days for Bodden Town and East End will both take place next Saturday, 5 June.
The Bodden Town event will start at 2:00 p.m at Coewood Beach while the East End venue will be George Dixon Park, also beginning at 2:00 p.m.
