Focus on Youth

Participants received a variety of on-the-job training.

This week (Monday, 30 August) on GIS Spotlight we highlight youth empowerment, take another look at the Gazette website and revisit a dramatic emergency exercise.

Join us at Passport2Success, a novel exercise the Ministry of Youth held jointly with the Wellness Centre to better groom youth for securing jobs. Hear what undergoing this hands-on training and work experience meant to the 16 - 19-year-old students.

Next, take another look at GIS Marketing and Communications' new Cayman Islands Gazette website. Learn how it was set-up and discover how easy it is to navigate the special features of this premier official publication.

Then it's off to experience the recent airport emergency exercise which simulated injuries and casualties, demonstrating the urgency that first responders face in real disasters. See how authorities test and fine-tune their response and management skills.

Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government's services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.

The weekly programme now airs on Cayman27 at 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, and 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. All the stories seen in this week's show can also be found on the GIS Marketing and Communications website: www.gis.ky.

Comments and suggestions about the programme are always welcome. Viewers can provide feedback by e-mailing GIS Spotlight.
