School Health Screenings Continue
Parents and guardians are reminded that health screenings are mandatory for all students entering government or private schools for the first time in Cayman.
On Grand Cayman, the Public Health Department is offering school entry screenings at John Gray High School's medical centre up until 31 August 2010. Appointments can be made by calling 949-2501 between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.
In Cayman Brac, appointments for school entry screening can be made by contacting Public Health Nurse Nelsie Jones at Faith Hospital on 948-2243.
Upon completion of the screening exercise a certificate will be issued and parents are required to take it to the school the child will be attending.
Health screenings can also be done by private physicians, who must complete Public Health's school health screening forms. Parents have to take the completed forms to the Public Health Department or John Gray High School's medical centre where a screening certificate will be issued. Forms can be delivered Mondays to Fridays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Health screenings conducted through the Public Health Department are free, however arrangements with and payment of private physicians are the responsibility of parents/guardians.
