Brac Remembrance Day

The Hon. Juliana O'Connor-Connolly, JP

Statement from

The Acting Premier the Hon. Juliana O'Connor-Connolly, JP

On Cayman Brac Remembrance Day Celebrations

Traditionally Remembrance Day Services on the Brac are held in the morning of Remembrance Sunday. I fully support the venue and time, however at times, even with other official functions, things has had to change due to exceptional circumstances.

As Acting Premier it is my duty also, to participate in both of these Memorial Ceremonies, hence the reason for this unavoidable and temporary change.

Remembrance Day commemorates those who have sacrificed their lives as seamen and in the great wars, as well as to recognise our surviving veterans and seamen who have also made sacrifices and continue to contribute to our community and our nation.

For the past 30 plus years, I have shared the Remembrance Day experience with my people of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, and I am looking forward to doing so again this year, God's willing.

This unavoidable and temporary change of time and venue should not detract from the pride and respect that we all feel towards those brave and valiant heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and prosperity.

I look forward to honouring all our veterans and seamen and encourage everyone to take part in these Memorial Day proceedings on Sunday.

God bless you all and continue to bless these beloved Cayman Islands.
