Time to Say Thanks
Nominations for the fourth annual Governor's Five-Star Award for Customer Excellence (FACE) have officially opened.
Speaking at the launch on Wednesday, 10 November, His Excellency the Governor Duncan Taylor, CBE, encouraged people to nominate those civil servants who go the extra mile to serve the public.
"In difficult times such as these, it is easy to complain about the civil service. However, there are always those who go above and beyond to serve the needs of their customers and it is important that these examples are highlighted."
The FACE honour programme was initiated three years ago by then Governor Mr. Stuart Jack, CVO, as an ongoing programme to encourage, motivate and support all civil servants.
This year, Governor Taylor added a new dimension to FACE by creating a departmental award: "I believe customer service should be a team effort. In order for the civil service to continually elevate the levels of customer service across the board, there have to be departmental standards to which employees are held. But moreover, departments have to define and put in place strategies for continually improving their service delivery."
Where members of the public can nominate individuals for a FACE award, for the new award. department heads have to submit an entry explaining their commitment to customer service excellence.
Departments will be rated according to five categories; namely departmental culture, customer insight, service delivery information and access, and timeliness and quality of service.
This year's FACE nomination and submission period ends on Wednesday, 15 December, and nominees will again be honoured at a Government House reception.
