New Year's Honours Announced
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has recognized two members of the Caymanian community in her 2011 New Year's Honours List.
Mrs. Mary Jannet Lawrence, JP and Mr. William Kemuel Jackson are made Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), Mrs. Lawrence for services to the community and Mr Jackson for contributions to preserving the Caymanian culture and environment.
In addition, His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Duncan Taylor, CBE has named eight Caymanians to be awarded the Cayman Islands Certificate and Badge of Honour (Cert. Hon).
Ms. Mary Elizabeth Blake and Ms. Ellen Rose Sherman are both honoured for services to the civil service, church and community, while Ms. Reba Dilbert is awarded for services to the people of the Cayman Islands.
Recognition for Mr. Hartmann Morgan DaCosta, JP comes for services to the community and to Ms. Audrey Ebanks for services to the church and community. Similarly, Mr. Rodney Alan Hansen is awarded for services to the community through broadcast media.
Rounding up the group are Lt. (sg) Dave C Thompson, for services to the Cayman Islands Cadet Corps/Youth and Ms. Zemrie Estella Thompson who is being honoured for services to the community (seniors).
