Cadets: Marching to a Different Beat

Being a cadet means broadening horizons

This week (Monday, 24 January) on GIS Spotlight we call on the Cadet Corps, preview a new National Gallery exhibition and analyse the civil service review.

The Cayman Islands Cadet Corps aims to inspire and motivate young people so they can maximise their potential. However, this challenging programme relies heavily on volunteers for its success. Join us as we talk to current volunteers and cadets regarding why you should get involved.

Our next stop is the National Gallery where we re-visit local artist Davin Ebanks' latest exhibition - Blue Meridian. Don't miss this look at art imitating life in which works of glass and porcelain artfully mirror Davin's Caymanian home.

Then join us for another look at the civil service review. Following a successful first phase, this UK-mandated evaluation is accelerating. We talk with Deputy Governor Donovan Ebanks on the long-term benefits of a leaner civil service.

Also hear a civil servant describe how the review team training will stand her in good stead as government continues its assessment of the public sector.

Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government's services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.

The weekly programme now airs on Cayman27 at 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, and 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. All stories seen in this week's show can also be found on the GIS Marketing and Communications website:
