Growing Up Good

Having fun learning

This week (Monday, 21 March) GIS Spotlight explores curbing developmental problems in children, attends an international hurricane conference and spends time at the Agriculture Show.

Our first stop is the Education Ministry's Early Intervention Unit where we explore how experts are leading the charge against developmental problems in young children. Hear what their focus is. And find out what parents can - and should - look out for.

Next up is the 33rd Session of the Region IV Hurricane Committee (HC33). Organised by the World Meteorological Organisation in association with the Cayman Islands Government, the event hosted hurricane specialists from North and Central America and the Caribbean.

Hear what was discussed and why it is so important that regional countries come together on disaster preparedness.

We close with a visit to this year's Agriculture Show. It's been on the annual calendar for almost a quarter of a century, but this week, we focus on 2011's highlights as well as on further growth opportunities.

Plus, don't miss insider tips from His Excellency the Governor Mr. Duncan Taylor, CBE, on where to find the best local produce!

Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government's services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.

The weekly programme now airs on Cayman27 at 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, and 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. All stories seen in this week's show can also be found on the GIS Marketing and Communications website: www.gis.ky.

Comments and suggestions about the programme are always welcome. Viewers can provide feedback by e-mailing GIS Spotlight.
