Unwinding After Storm Discussions

His Excellency the Governor Mr. Duncan Taylor, CBE and his wife Marie-Beatrice hosted a Government House reception for 33rd Session Region IV Hurricane Committee (HC33) participants last Tuesday (8 March).

Reception guests included Minister of District Administration, Works, Lands and Agriculture the Hon. Juliana O'Connor-Connolly, JP; the ministry's Chief Officer Kearney Gomez; Cayman Islands National Weather Service's Director-General Fred Sambula, and HC33 Chairman and National Hurricane Centre (Miami) Director Bill Read.

The HC33 meeting was organised by the World Meteorological Organisation, in association with the Cayman Islands Government. It brought together hurricane experts from North and Central America and the Caribbean to review technical and operational plans before the start of the Atlantic hurricane season in June.

More than 70 delegates attended the meeting at the Ritz-Carlton between 7 and 12 March.
