Meeting Housing Needs

Eighteen local contractors recently signed agreements to build 26 affordable homes in Windsor Park. Signing off on the project (from left) are National Housing Development Trust (NHDT) General Manager Janet James, Top Notch Construction's Windell Scott, Housing Minister Michael Adam, MBE, JP, and NHDT Board Chair Edward Steve McLaughlin.

Just in time for Christmas this year, the National Housing Development Trust (NHDT) plans to have an additional 26 affordable homes available in George Town for first-time Caymanian homeowners.

At a special meeting last week 18 local contractors signed agreements to start work at the Windsor Park site on 15 August.

Housing Minister, the Hon. Michael Adam, MBE, JP, noted that the signing marked yet another milestone for the NHDT, which has already successfully completed 12 homes in East End and another 29 in West Bay.

Congratulating the contractors he added, "This project puts quite a few people back to work. This is so desperately needed at this time and we're happy to be assisting in that respect also."

With a total project value of $2.8 million, the two- and three-bedroom concrete homes will replace metal structures that previously occupied the Windsor Park site.
