Spotlight on Better Driving
This week (Monday, 8 August) GIS Spotlight raises your Streetskill levels with road safety strategies, brings you Fresh Air with cool kids, and improves visitors' time in Cayman.
First, pull over and hear from Streetskill committee members just why road safety is everyone's responsibility. Learn about the dangers of texting or talking on cell phones while driving, and consider that these are activities that might get you noticed by police officers who are alert for offenders.
Next, GIS Spotlight makes a splash with the Fresh Air Kids. Learn about the Fresh Air Fund that has been providing great summers and changing the lives of some 1.7 million of New York's inner-city kids since 1877.
See what made this year's trip to the Cayman Islands unforgettable for the ten kids and five participating families and learn why Cayman as a destination was an easy choice.
Finally, join officials who are working to ensure tourist accommodations do their part to maintain quality and safe vacations in Cayman. Drop in on a Hotel Licensing Board seminar and learn the importance of safe practices for all hotel equipment, facilities, food preparation and storage - all the while remembering that a friendly smile also makes a positive difference!
Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government's services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.
The weekly programme now airs on Cayman27 at 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, and 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. All stories seen in this week's show can also be found on the GIS Marketing and Communications website: www.gis.ky.
