Spotlight Recovery Month

Acting Programme Coordinator at the Family Resource Centre Miriam Foster explains the importance of Recovery Month.

This week (Monday, 19 September) GIS Spotlight kindles hope, views life through artistic eyes and revisits an urban oasis.

Whether you accept it or not, drug and alcohol abuse or addiction affects everyone around the abuser. Providing intervention in isolation, therefore, has limited value.

Join us to hear counsellors reveal the importance of Recovery Month to empower family members, employers and colleagues of addicts. Learn how the Family Resource Centre can help to curtail addiction's reach and become a sustained support system.

Next, we step into the artistic world of native powerhouse Nasaria Suckoo-Chollette, the third artist in residence at the National Gallery. See her unveil an artistic influence on Cayman through her creativity and get a glimpse of a day in her life.

For our last stop, we revisit the Government Administration Building to reveal how much thought has gone into this "green" edifice. See innovative planning and cutting-edge technology in action in the showcase structure that were put into place to cut operating costs, and enhance staff and energy efficiencies.

Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government's services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.

The weekly programme now airs on Cayman27 at 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, and 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. All stories seen in this week's show can also be found on the GIS Marketing and Communications website:
