DEH Bulk Clean-up Begins
The Department of Environmental Health's (DEH) annual bulk waste collection campaign began on Saturday, 19 November, on the eastern side of Grand Cayman. After continuing through the other districts, it ends in West Bay on Saturday, 17 December.
The Cayman Brac clean-up takes place from 26 November to 2 December.
The collection schedule for Grand Cayman is as follows:
- East End and North Side - 19 to 26 November
- Bodden Town - 28 November to 3 December
- George Town - 5 to 10 December
- West Bay - 12 to 17 December
Bulk waste includes items such as household appliances, furniture, and yard waste - which are not handled during the DEH's bi-weekly residential garbage collection.
These should be placed on the curbsides where they can be accessed by DEH trucks, but they should not obstruct or block traffic.
Metals, such as old appliances, furniture and roofing, must be piled separate from branches, plant trimmings and other vegetative waste.
Construction and demolition debris will not be collected.
Waste items should not be put out after the scheduled dates once a district has been cleaned, as DEH crews will not be returning to these areas.
