Having Fun the Family Way

Brisk moves characterised zumbathon.

The week starting Monday, 25 June, GIS Spotlight focuses on celebrating children during Child Month 2012 and revisits the colourful depth of two recent art exhibits.

First, join us in different activities that took place over May and June which helped to underscore the importance of children. Hear about the vital role that private sector organisations play in conjunction with the Department of Children and Family Services and see how you can help.

Move with the fast action of zumba and participate in the full gamut of action from face painting and a puppet show to story-telling and sing-along at the Family Fun Day at Pedro St. James.

Then, it's off to the National Gallery to revisit the Ogier Art Award exhibit. Discover the artistic side of contemporary Cayman depicted by 75 local artists in 200 works. Hear how this competition has grown since last year with new categories and fresh pieces by emerging and established artists.

Finally, we stop again at the National Gallery which unveils Cayman's maritime heritage through the eyes of eight local artists. Spend a little quality time in this emotive world artistically expressed in swirling colours on canvas and other media.

Produced by GIS Marketing and Communications, GIS Spotlight highlights government's services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you. The weekly programme airs Mondays on Cayman27 at 8 p.m. and on Saturdays at 6 p.m. Also Radio Cayman broadcasts on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. the previous week's show.

All stories seen in the week's GIS Spotlight can also be found on the GIS Marketing and Communications website: www.gis.ky.
