GIS Spotlight: Competitions for Kids
The week starting Monday, 3 September, GIS Spotlight revisits the One Ocean One Planet and the DOT tourism ambassador competitions, and once again reminds everyone of the importance of hurricane preparedness.
Last year Prospect Primary School won the One Ocean One Planet competition, and on tonight's show GIS Spotlight will revisit their winning entry.
Hear from government and private sector partners how they elicit ideas from young thinkers and artists about ways to keep our oceans and our planet a living resource for all generations. View the entries and participate in the enthusiasm school children have for nature.
Next, hear about another interesting competition for young people as the Department of Tourism goes on a hunt for an ambassador. Learn about this year's theme and discover the programme's special attraction to both tourists and residents.
Finally, as hurricane season continues, we revisit one of Hazard Management Cayman Islands' yearly exercises. Discover how the various entities come together to try out scenarios and ensure they have their preparation plans and gear in readiness should storms affect the Islands this season.
Produced by GIS Marketing and Communications, GIS Spotlight highlights government's services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you. The weekly programme airs Mondays on Cayman27 at 8 p.m. and on Saturdays at 6 p.m.
