Election 2013 Count Underway

The counting process to determine the outcome of the 2013 General Election got underway at approximately 7:00pm today (Wednesday, 22 May), an hour after polls closed. Across the Islands 18 seats are being contested for the first time.

Results are being counted in each district with the national totals being collated at the command centre in George Town.

In West Bay 3378 persons came out to cast their votes, 469 persons voted in North Side, 558 in East End, 835 in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, 3626 in Bodden Town, 5892 in George Town.

According to the final official figures a total of 14758 persons, or 79.93 percent of registered voters, had their say in today’s election.

The final results are expected around dawn tomorrow (Thursday, May 23, 2013).
