Sign up for the CayMAN pledge
Staff of the Family Resource Centre (FRC) turned out in force to celebrate International Menís Day on Wednesday, 19 November 2014 at Regal Cinema.
The event was a re-release of the short film - Boysí Voice, and a continued push for men throughout the Islands to sign up for the CayMAN Pledge.
Men who take the pledge promise to provide guidance for their families, to be role models to the communities; and to promote healthy masculinity by encouraging the expression of emotions and giving equal affection to boys and girls.
They also commit to equally valuing male and female contributions to society. The pledge also urges self-control by managing impulsive behaviour, especially when it comes to anger, substance use and disciplining children.
FRC officials say its objective is to encourage men and boys to hold themselves to a high standard and to think about the kind of contribution they wish to make year-round.
Interested members of the public can take the pledge at the Family Resource Centre, at the Compass Centre on North Sound Road, and at the International Menís Day Football Tournament at Camana Bay this Saturday at 10.00am
Those who sign up throughout the month will receive a pin reminding them to live up to its conditions once November ends. (GIS)
