Customs Secondment Ends
After a one year internal secondment to the Customs Department, as the Collector of Customs, on 5th January 2015 Mrs. Samantha Bennett will return to her substantive post at the Immigration Department as Deputy Chief Immigration Officer.
As part of an internal secondment programme, or temporary learning placement, Mrs Bennett took up the role of the Collector of Customs, on 4th November 2013.
The internal secondment programme was developed by the Portfolio of the Civil Service to allow civil servants the opportunity to actively work in another position within Government in order to develop competencies, skills and experiences.
“I am grateful for the experience gained during my Secondment as the Collector of Customs” said Mrs. Bennett.
Prior to the end of the secondment period, Mrs Bennett participated in an open recruitment process conducted by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development to fill the substantive position of the Collector of Customs. No candidate was appointed and it has been decided to continue the recruitment process in 2015. In the interim, Mr. Collie Powery, Deputy Collector of Customs, has been appointed as the Acting Collector of Customs.
