Governors Meet

Cayman Islands Governor Helen Kilpatrick (centre) hosted her counterparts from British Overseas Territories at a conference at Government House today (Friday, 27 March 2015). Her Excellency the Governor hosted the Governors from Bermuda and the other Caribbean Overseas Territories for a Conference to discuss regional matters and issues of common interest.

The Conference, hosted at Government House on Friday 27 March, was attended by the Governors of Anguilla, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, and Montserrat. Senior officials from the Overseas Territories Directorate in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office also attended. The annual Governors' Conference is usually held in Miami; this is the first time that it has been hosted in a territory.

Before the Conference started, some of the Governors visited Health City Cayman Islands to hear how the hospital is building on its plan to reach out to the Caribbean region and beyond. The visitors also met the Acting Premier and the Acting Deputy Governor and will attend the RCIPS Gala Awards Dinner.

Her Excellency the Governor said: "I am pleased to welcome my colleagues from across the Caribbean. This is the first time that the Governors' Conference has been held in an Overseas Territory; I'm delighted to be able to showcase the beauty and energy of the Cayman Islands to our visitors."
