Condolence Books in Memory of John McLean

Government has provided books at three locations for persons who wish to visit and pay their respects.

In memory of John Bonwell McLean, OBE, JP, MLA the Cayman Islands Government is hosting condolence books in which the people of the Cayman Islands may pay their respects to the late legislator and his family.

The condolence books are available for interested members of the public to sign until Monday, 9 September 2019 from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following locations:

Government Administration Building

o 133 Elgin Avenue, George Town, Grand Cayman

Legislative Assembly Building

o 33 Fort Street, George Town, Grand Cayman

East End Post Office

o 2550 Sea View Road, East End, Grand Cayman

Mr McLean was highly regarded by his peers and the people of the Cayman Islands. A former Member of the Cayman Islands Legislative Assembly (1976-2000), he proudly served his East End community as its elected representative for six consecutive terms.

Mr McLean was a Member of the Executive Council, what is now known as a Cabinet Minister, for three four-year terms. Portfolios for which he was responsible included agriculture, lands, natural resources, communications, environment and works.

The Cayman Islands Government will fly flags at half-mast on Monday, 9 September and Tuesday, 10 September 2019.
